WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

We would like to welcome all of you who have gathered with us today for worship. We come from many places to this time and place. From our varied and hectic lives, we gather in this sacred space, as a community to be challenged, to give thanks and to worship. No matter who you are or where you are on lifeÕs journey you are welcome here.

GATHERING     ÒSoften My HeartÓ

Soften my heart, Lord, Soften my heart

from all indifference set me apart,

To feel your compassion, to weep with your tears;

come soften my heart, O Lord, Soften my heart. (repeat)

PRAYERS OF THE CONGREGATION

CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader:  Friends, we are GodÕs treasures. We are each created in GodÕs image, GodÕs beloved children

People:  What a gift it is to know, to really know we are GodÕs treasures.

Leader:  Who and what God treasures is also where GodÕs heart is.

People:  Ahh, yes, and what we treasure are shows where our hearts are.

Leader:  We show what we treasure, by what we worship. Let us worship God our Creator, Jesus our Redeemer and listen for our Still-Speaking God.

*HYMN  ÒGod, Whose Giving Knows No EndingÓ

                                                                              (pg. 5 & 6 Bulletin)

*OPENING PRAYER

Loving God, we thank you for the gift of life and  the abundant blessings you give us. Help us to be aware of the treasures you have entrusted to us: our various relationships, abilities, health, time, and resources. We thank you too, for our church where we become aware of the power of the gifts you bestow upon us.  It amazes us that because of who you created us to be, and because of the various treasures we share, our church changes lives – including our own. We praise you for your faithfulness and all you have entrusted to our care. Amen

*PASSING THE PEACE

We are a people in need of peace. In so many places we are overwhelmed and our world is overwhelming. My friends, Jesus wants us to have the peace that passes all human understanding. Let us encourage one another, reminding each other that Jesus offers peace. The Peace of Christ be with you.

And also with you.

(All are invited to greet others with handshakes or hugs while saying to them "the peace of Christ be with you" and responding " and also with you.")

*SONG OF PRAISE              "For the Beauty of the EarthÓ  (vs. 4)

For the good that love inspires,

for the world where none exclude.

For a faith that never tires,

and for every heart renewed,

God of all, to you we raise

this our hymn of grateful praise.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

THE LORDÕS PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.   Amen.

*HYMN ÒTake My Life and Let It Be Consecrated     (Screen)

*THE BENEDICTION

Christ has no body now, but ours.

No hands, no feet on earth, but ours.

Ours are the eyes through which Christ looks

with compassion on this world.

Ours are the feet  with which he walks to do good.

Ours are the hands through which

he blesses all the world.

Ours are hands, ours are the feet, ours are the eyes, we are ChristÕs body.

Christ has no body now on earth, but ours.

*CHORAL RESPONSE   ÒMake Me a BlessingÓ             Al Hailey

Make me a blessing, touch me today.

Lord, please use me, in your own way.

Washed of your spirit, humble and low,

into your service, Lord, let me go.

Lord, take these hands; Lord take these feet

into the paths you bid me go

Lord, make my life complete.

Short is our time, Lord, help us to know

where we may serve you, then bid us go.

Make me a blessing, touch me, I pray;

Lord, please guide me, oh, Father, today.
