PRAYERS OF THE CONGREGATION
CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: There are a variety of roads that have brought us to this place in our lives.
People: No matter who you are or
where you are on lifeÕs journey, all are welcome here.
Leader: May our paths lead us to God whose ways are faithful and loving.
People:
GodÕs ways cause us to love the Lord our God with all our heart, with
all our being, with all our strength and with all our mind, and to love our
neighbors as ourselves.
Leader: Let us sit at the feet of Jesus and listen for the words God speaks to us through the power of the Holy Spirit.

*CALL TO CONFESSION
*PRAYER OF CONFESSION
God, when we are people on the road who have knowingly or unknowingly
done harm to others,
Have mercy on us.
God, when we are people on the road who have turned away from others,
Have mercy on us.
God, when we are people on the road unwilling to allow others to support
us on our journey,
Have mercy on us.
God, when we are people on the road, too busy to sit at the feet of
Jesus,
Have mercy on us.
God, as people on the road, no matter where we are on lifeÕs journey,
Strengthen our faith in you, increase our love for our neighbor and
ourselves, that we may love and serve as Jesus showed us. Amen.
*SILENCE AS WE CONFESS OUR PERSONAL SINS
*ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
*PASSING THE PEACE
When we gather for worship, we turn to God
with all our heart, soul,
strength, and mind and we practice loving our neighbor as ourselves.
We want to lead lives worthy of the Lord,
fully pleasing to God, as we bear fruit in every good work and as we grow in
the knowledge of God.
Leading this kind of life, leads to the peace
of Christ. May we uncover this
peace in our lives. The peace of Christ be with you.
(All
are invited to greet others with handshakes or hugs while saying to them "the peace of Christ be with you"
and responding " and also with
you.")

SCRIPTURE READING Luke 10:27-37 CEB
25 A legal expert stood up to test Jesus. ÒTeacher,Ó he said, Òwhat
must I do to gain eternal life?Ó
26 Jesus replied, ÒWhat is written in the Law? How do you
interpret it?Ó
27 He responded, ÒYou must love the Lord your God with all your
heart, with all your being, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and
love your neighbor as yourself.Ó
28 Jesus said to him, ÒYou have answered correctly. Do this and
you will live.Ó
29 But the legal expert wanted to prove that he was right, so he said
to Jesus, ÒAnd who is my neighbor?Ó
30 Jesus replied, ÒA man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho. He
encountered thieves, who stripped him naked, beat him up, and left him near
death. 31 Now it just so happened that a priest was also going down the same
road. When he saw the injured man, he crossed over to the other side of the
road and went on his way. 32 Likewise, a Levite came by that spot, saw the injured man, and
crossed over to the other side of the road and went on his way. 33 A Samaritan, who was on a
journey, came to where the man was. But when he saw him, he was moved with
compassion. 34 The Samaritan went to him and bandaged his wounds, tending them
with oil and wine. Then he placed the wounded man on his own donkey, took him
to an inn, and took care of him. 35 The next day, he took two full daysÕ worth of wages and gave them
to the innkeeper. He said, ÔTake care of him, and when I return, I will pay you
back for any additional costs.Õ 36 What do you think? Which one of these three was a neighbor to the
man who encountered thieves?Ó
37 Then the legal expert said, ÒThe one who demonstrated mercy toward
him.Ó
Jesus told him, ÒGo and do
likewise.Ó

*CONFESSING OUR FAITH ÒUCC Statement of FaithÓ
We
believe in you, O God, Eternal Spirit,
God of our Savior Jesus Christ and our
God, and to your deeds we testify:
You
call the worlds into being, create persons in your own image,
and
set before each one the ways of life and death.
You seek in holy love
to save all people from aimlessness and sin.
You judge people and
nations by your righteous will declared through prophets and apostles.
In Jesus Christ, the
man of Nazareth, our crucified and risen Savior, you have come to us and shared
our common lot, conquering sin and death and reconciling the world to yourself.
You bestow upon us
your Holy Spirit, creating and renewing the church of Jesus Christ, binding in
covenant faithful people of all ages, tongues, and races.
You call us into your
church to accept the cost and joy of discipleship,
to
be your servants in the service of others, to proclaim the gospel to all the
world
and resist the powers of evil,
to
share in Christ's baptism and eat at his table, to join him in his passion and
victory.
You promise to all who
trust you forgiveness of sins and fullness of grace, courage in the struggle
for justice and peace, your presence in trial and rejoicing, and eternal life
in your realm which has no end.
Blessing and honor,
glory and power be unto you.
Amen.
PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
PRAYER OF OUR SAVIOR
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in
heaven. Give us this day our daily
bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but
deliver us from evil. For Thine is
the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

There Be PeaceÓ
By Sy Miller and Jill Jackson
Let there be
peace on earth, and let it begin with me.
Let there be peace on earth, the peace that was meant to be.
With God our
Creator, children all are we.
Let us walk with each other in perfect harmony.
Let peace begin with me; let this be the moment now.
With every step I take, let this be my solemn vow:
To take each moment and
live each moment in peace eternally!
Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.
