No matter who you are or where you are on lifeÕs journey you are welcome here.

GATHERING MUSIC   ÒThey That Wait Upon the LordÓ

They that wait upon the Lord, shall renew their strength, They shall rise up on wings as eagles.

They shall run and not be weary,

they shall walk and not faint.

Help us Lord, help us Lord on our way.

CONGREGATIONAL PRAYERS

CALL TO WORSHIP1     Based on Revelation 1:5-6, 8

Leader:  Jesus Christ is the faithful witness, the first born from the dead,

People: The King above all kings on earth.

Leader:  The One who loved us has freed us from our sins,

People:  And has made us to be a kingdom, a beloved community in Christ.

Leader:   We are now all priests to one another, serving God together,

People:  To Christ be the glory and dominion forever, amen!

Leader:   The One who is, who was, and who is to come, the Almighty. Let us worship the One who reigns with God, now and forever. Amen.

* HYMN    ÒAll Hail the Power of Jesus NameÓ               #310

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Holy God, you highly exalted Christ Jesus, giving to him the name that is above every name. He came with your power, your love, your blessing. You sent him to create a new order and way of life. Yet we hold tightly to the ways of this world. Too often our trust is in the empires of this world. We fail to follow the agenda Jesus set forth – an agenda of acceptance, forgiveness, love, peace and hope. Forgive us; help us to confess with our words and lives that Jesus is Lord in this world and in the world to come. Amen.

*SILENCE FOR PERSONAL CONFESSION

*ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

Listen for the voice of Jesus who says to sinners, ÒYour sins are forgiven.Ó Listen for the voice of Jesus who says, ÒI came not into the world to condemn the world but to save it.Ó Receive the love of Jesus who makes all things new. Listen for the voice of Jesus who calls us, saying ÒFollow me.Ó

*PASSING THE PEACE

The kings of this world cannot give the peace we really need- only Jesus can offer that peace; and we in turn can share the peace he gives us.  May the peace of Christ be with you.

And also with you.

(All are invited to greet others with handshakes or hugs while saying to them ÒThank you! The peace of Christ be with youÓ and responding, Òand also with you.

CHORAL RESPONSE         ÓLet There Be PeaceÓ

By Sy Miller and Jill Jackson

Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.
Let there be peace on earth, the peace that was meant to be. With God our Creator, children all are we.
Let us walk with each other in perfect harmony.
Let peace begin with me; let this be the moment now.
With every step I take, let this be my solemn vow:
To take each moment and
live each moment in peace eternally!
Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.
