WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader:     We have been drawn from our homes and churches to come to be in community at the Clark County Fair.

People:    As we worship God together, may this place become Holy Ground where we become one with Christ and with one another.

Leader:    May our words and deeds bring the grace and peace of Jesus into our community.

*SONG         ÒPraise to the Living GodÓ           (pg. 5 bulletin)

*LITANY FOR FAIR-TIME

We are GodÕs beloved children called to be imitators of God and followers of Jesus Christ building up the Body of Christ.

At the Clark County Fair, we encounter friends and strangers; some hurrying from one event to another and others open to conversation as they wait for next class that catches their interest.

May we be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another as Christ has forgiven us.

Here we sit at picnic tables eating our favorite fair foods supporting organizations that benefit our community, we meet traveling carnival workers hoping to earn enough to put food on their tables.

May we be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another as Christ has forgiven us.

Here conversations take place with judges and competitors, youth are guided by 4-H and FFA leaders; and helped by parents, siblings and friends.

May we be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another as Christ has forgiven us.

Here there is laughter and tears, pride and disappointment, anger, weariness, excitement and fear.

May we be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another as Christ has forgiven us.

Here we can practice being who God has called us to be. Here we can strive to be imitators of God and followers of Jesus Christ.

From here we can take what we have practiced to the communities where we live, study, work and play, places where kindness, tender hearts and forgiveness are also needed.

PASSING THE PEACE

Peace is GodÕs gift to us; the peace of Christ is a gift we are invited to share as well as receive.

 May the peace of Christ be with you. And also with you.

(All are invited to greet others with handshakes or hugs while saying to them "The peace of Christ be with you" and responding "and also with you.")

We Respond To GodÕs Faithfulness

*HYMN   ÒHelp Us Accept Each OtherÓ                                  tune: Aurelia

Help us accept each other as Christ accepted us;

Teach us as sister, brother, each person to embrace.

Be present God, among us, and bring us to believe

We are ourselves accepted and meant to love and live.

Teach us, O God your lessons, as in our daily life

We struggle to be human and search for hope and faith.

Teach us to care for people, for all, not just for some,

To love them as we find them, or as they may become.

Let your acceptance change us, so that we may be moved

in living situations to do the truth in love;

To practice your acceptance, until we know by heart

The table of forgiveness and laughterÕs healing art.

God, for todayÕs encounter with all who are in need,

Who hunger for acceptance, for righteousness and bread,

Bring us new eyes for seeing, new hands for holding on;

Renew us with your Spirit; God! Free us, make us one!

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE           Pastor Chad Anderson

THE PRAYER OF OUR SAVIOR

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

 THE BENEDICTION

*CHORAL RESPONSE    ÒLet There Be Peace on EarthÓ

By Sy Miller and Jill Jackson

Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.

Let there be peace on earth, the peace that was meant to be.  With God our Creator, children all are we.

Let us walk with each other in perfect harmony.

Let peace begin with me; let this be the moment now.

With every step I take, let this be my solemn vow:

To take each moment and

live each moment in peace eternally!

Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.
