PRAYERS OF THE CONGREGATION

*CALL TO WORSHIP (Leader: Light Print – People Bold)

Jesus commanded:  Love one another.

We come to worship the God who is love

that we may learn to love one another.

Jesus said: ÒNo longer do I call you servants; now I call

you my friends.

We come to worship the God whose friends we are

through Christ.

Let us sing praise to God and live in love and friendship

toward the human family; through Jesus Christ.  Amen.

*HYMN           ÒAll Are WelcomeÓ                                  (Insert)

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION

God of love and justice, we long for peace within and

peace without. We long for harmony in our families,

for serenity in the midst of struggle, and for commitment to each otherÕs growth. We long for the day when our homes will be a dwelling place for your love. Yet we confess that we are anxious; we do not trust each other, and we harbor violence.  We are not willing to take the risks and make the hard choices that love requires. Look upon us with kindness and grace.  Rule in our homes and in all the world; show us how to walk in your paths, through the mercy of our Savior. Amen.

*ASSURANCE OF PARDON

PRAISE RESPONSE  ÓHallelujah"

Halle, halle, hallelujah, Halle, halle, hallelujah.

      Halle, halle, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah!

*PASSING THE PEACE

Let us welcome one another. Let us share ChristÕs love for each other. Let us offer ChristÕs peace to each other. The Peace of Christ be with you.

And also, with you.

(All are invited to greet others with handshakes or hugs while saying to them "The peace of Christ be with you" and responding "and also with you.")

*RESPONSE TO THE WORD

                 United Church Statement of Faith

We believe in you, O God, Eternal Spirit,

God of our Savior Jesus Christ and our God, and to your deeds we testify:

You call the worlds into being, create persons in your own image, and set before each one the ways of life and        death.

You seek in holy love to save all people from aimlessness and sin.

You judge people and nations by your righteous will declared through prophets and apostles.

In Jesus Christ, the man of Nazareth, our crucified and risen Savior, you have come to us

and shared our common lot, conquering sin and death and reconciling the world to yourself.

You bestow upon us your Holy Spirit, creating and renewing the church of Jesus Christ,

binding in covenant faithful people of all ages, tongues, and races.

You call us into your church to accept the cost and joy of discipleship,

to be your servants in the service of others, to proclaim the gospel to all the world

and resist the powers of evil, to share in ChristÕs baptism and eat at his table,

to join him in his passion and victory.

You promise to all who trust you forgiveness of sins and fullness of grace,

courage in the struggle for justice and peace, your presence in trial and rejoicing,

and eternal life in your realm which has no end.

Blessing and honor, glory and power be unto you.  Amen.

Strengthen the Church Special Offering

Each year, we receive a special offering that helps the churchÕs love to grow and thrive.  Called Strengthen the Church.  This offering funds new congregations and renews existing ones.  It supports programs for youth and young adults and nurtures current and future leaders.  And it sends the God is Still Speaking MinistryÕs message of extravagant welcome and inclusivity into our world. We will receive this offering on May 20 – the birthday of the church – Pentecost Sunday.  I invite you to celebrate by giving to Strengthen the Church.  Your generous gift ensures a vibrant church tomorrow.

Spread the Love.  Strengthen the Church.  God is still speaking. You will find Strengthen the Church special offering envelopes in the pew racks. Thank you for your support!
