United Church of Christ in Neillsville

That they may all be one.

New Members in Spring 2006

On May 21, 2006 we receive five new members:

Mel Eddy, Ricky and Clarissa Rochester, Jenna Ziegler, and Tanya Keller.  Mel comes from Indiana and married Joe Eddy a few years ago.  She works at Marshfield Clinic in the laboratories.  Mel enjoys raising animals and being with family and friends.  Ricky and Clarissa are life long Neillsville residents and the parents of Arianna and Delaney.  Ricky enjoys softball, snowmobiling and darts while Clarissa just enjoys being a mom and watching her kids grow.  Jenna was married here last fall to Josh Ziegler.  A graduate of UW-Eau Claire, she works at the Royal Credit Union in that city and lives with Josh in rural Fairchild.  She enjoys scrapbooking, walking, swimming and shopping.  Tanya is married to David Keller and has three children:  Ariel, Tyler, and Derek.  She works at the Lynn Dairy and enjoys reading, walking, and watching movies in her spare time.

Communion

The United Church of Christ celebrates open communion.  We believe the table containing the elements of bread and wine is the Lord's Table, not our table.  Therefore, all are welcome, no matter what your age or denomination is.  Communion takes place on the first Sunday of every month and on special occasions such as Maundy Thursday, Christmas Eve, and Pentecost.  We celebrate in two ways, in the pews with small cups of wine or juice and small pieces of leavened bread, and by intinction, which means that worshipers come forward, take a piece of bread and then dip it into a chalice containing either wine or juice.  Our method of taking communion alternates, with two Sundays having pew communion and one Sunday having commnion by intinction.

Our Queen Mothers

Take a look at some of the pictures below of the "queen mothers" in our church.  On Mother's Day many women came in a variety of hats, which served as their "crowns.", acknowledging the importance of mothers in our lives.

Jazz on a Sunday Morning 2006

On April 30th swinging sounds once again emerged from Neillsville UCC to help raise the dead with "Resurrection Jazz."  Front Porch Swing, our local jazz ensemble based at Tufts' Mansion joined together with two our our confirmands, Vince Elmhorst and Mitch Sigurdson, and Pastor Jim Mohr to help us celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.  The group helped Pastor Jim preach a jazz sermon based on Luke 24:36-48 and three jazz tunes:  "Softly As in a Morning Sunrise," "Get Happy," and "So What."
