WE CELEBRATE CALVIN
On July 10, 1509 John Calvin, one of the most prominent leaders of the sixteenth century Protestant Reformation, was born. He served as pastor in the city of Geneva, Switzerland during the middle of that century and from there influenced religious movements throughout Europe and eventually the world. The founders of churches which formed the United Church of Christ , including the Pilgrims and Puritans, were Calvinists. We will celebrate the 500th anniversary of Calvin’s birth during 9:00 a.m. worship on July 12 utilizing a style of worship he introduced into Geneva, which included the singing of psalms. The sermon, entitled "Calvin Who?" will tell something about the man and his importance for our church and world. Who knows? Maybe we’ll even have a birthday cake?
Devotions Available
You can access a series of devotional messages at i.ucc.org. These devotions are written by various UCC pastors and lay people and help us connect to God each day.
- For those of us who give by automatic deductions from our bank, send our gift through our bank, write a monthly check, or designate a yearly contribution of stocks, there is a way to show our giving commitment each week through a “Giving Card.” These are placed in the pews in either the card rack or in back of the communion cup rack. You are invited to take one and place it in the offering plate during the morning offering.
- The card is red on one side and white on the other.
Listen on the Radio
A portion of our Sunday worship is broadcast each Sunday at 11:00 a.m. on WCCN, 1370 AM on the dial. If you would like to sponsor a broadacast please contact the church office at 743-2147.

Pictures from the Holy Land
Check out the Israel Blog for a series of collages from Pastor Jim's month-long stay in Israel as a partcipant in a seminar for pastors at the Tantur Ecumenical Institute. Tantur lies just north of the wall separating Palestinian Bethlehem and Israeli Jerusalem. From the heights of Tantur one may gaze upon this wall and note the division and strife in this so called "Holy Land."
